We cannot extract iron ore from our country's lands. We import 11 million tons of ore annually for our integrated iron and steel production facilities and spend an average of 1 billion dollars in foreign currency for this. While 70% of the iron-steel produced in our country and used as construction steel is produced as billets, the amount of flat semi-steel used in automotive, white goods, and pipes is produced as 30% Slab. The figures show that the sector will grow further every year and the investments made in technology to meet the demands will also increase.
