Flat metal rolling is the process of passing metal ingots or slabs through rollers rotating in opposite directions to reduce thickness and provide the desired form. Differences Between Hot and Cold Rolling
Two basic methods are followed in flat metal production depending on the area of use: Hot Rolling: It is performed above the recrystallization temperature of the metal. It is ideal for large-scale shaping and is generally preferred in structural steel production. Cold Rolling: It is the re-processing of hot-rolled metal at room temperature. This process provides the metal with a smoother surface, higher strength, and much more precise thickness values.
